One of the key instructions in scripture for elders is to protect the flock from false teaching. See Acts 20:29-31; Titus 1:7-9. 3. Elders are to Be Sober Minded in Everything 2 Tim. 4:5 Paul gives four final exhortations to Timothy. (1) Exercise self-control - ‘Keep your head’ (NIV); ‘Sober-minded’ (ESV). c/f Jam. 3:1-2.
